With Google on a rampage against paid links, the question is time and again asked about the future concerning bid directories.
Well I myself manage a bid directory and I am really sorry to say that the future looks bleak. That is what Matt Cutts means when he say,
a bidding directory that just gives the top slot to the highest money bid might not be as trusted by Google
And people who are not aware of this individual, he is the guy whose words are becoming more of a Google rule thesedays.(He is a engineer with Google since 2000 and currently the head of Google’s Webspam team).
Google is justifying its penalties by arguing the fact that these sort of links are purely existing for the PR benefit. Yes, this is very much true and personally I donot have a case to argue.
I am not to sure what I plan to do with my bid directory, but I sure am looking for ways to make it more useful.
Do share any ideas that you have for implementing in our bid directories.
Yes, I know that a lot of bid directories have gained PR in the last toolbar update but trust me that PR is not what is used to be. I have lost my PR in a matter of seconds and it was not even an official update.
