They did mention that this year is going to be “The Year of the Social Media” and in that trend we have a new Seach Engine, Stumpedia.

Now this is not the regular search engine, but infact a “Social Search Engine” where the automated bots and the algorithms have no place. With Stumpedia, the users will contol the search on the relevance and ranking of search results. Its like a search Digg, were users can submit website pages and also vote for them in the search results.

I really like the idea where users can contribute in building the perfect search engine.

There may be concerns of users spamming the search results with unholy links, but then the good thing is that unlike bots, humans can easily detect and report spam.

The interface is extra minimal and I like that, but it took me a while to get started and I think that an FAQ is badly needed for interested visitors . Also, parts of the site like the blog and the forum need a makeover and would do wonders with a professional templating in place.

This is a good idea and will gain momentum once more users start to participate.

As a webmaster, one can use this medium to promote their best content as you never know that this could be the next big thing for the year.
