Hi Rand, i am still a fan of SEOMoz and love to read u guys..

My only argument is that why should a web directory be any diferent from any other sites ?

Is is that the SEs treat web directory as degrading ?

Also, with you not mentioning any means to identify what quality would mean, the impact of your video will definitely be a negative on the masses and yes SEOMoz does have a mass following.

We do have the quick buck crew, but your video labels all of them in the same category.

The video would definitely have been complete with your inputs on what made the better directories stand out and how one could identify it.

Not meaning to offend but i just like to speak my mind.

admin - I'm sorry you didn't like the video and felt that I was ignorant about the directory building world. I've definitely built directories myself and my opinion is that most of them have very little value when it comes to the rank-boosting value in the search engines. I certainly welcome disagreement, and would love to see your defense of general directories.

The problem is that the facts he has quoted are biased and inaccurate.

He is not teaching us on how to make a better directory, but instead is branding the general directory market as useless.

Why should a directory be any different that a normal site when it comes to building backlinks ?

They also have their own directory list for the premiem members, so it is like saying that ours is the best list as we know what is a quality directory and all the other lists are useless.

His intentions may have been good, but his presentation falls head on

He didn't say anything disagreeable with regards to directories in general. It all boils down to the value proposition. Most directory owners are chasing PR to entice submitters. Few are chasing hub status for their cat pages and that's what makes an authority directory/page that's really worth paying for IMO.
