Every webmaster loves the word SEO or for than matter the concept of SEO. I have seen like a thousand usernames in forums having the word SEO squeezed in them. I personally have tried my hand in SEO and have actually finished in the top 10 result in a heavily contested SEO contest.(CarCasher, some of you might remember that)
But whenever I looked for advice, I hunted for the most heavily guarded SEO secrets and failed to implement the basics. That was what nulled some of my efforts and had me asking myself that where was I going wrong.
My advice for mastering any topic would be to be very strong in your basics as then move on from there.
Today I have got an opportunity to review one of the most neglected concepts of SEO and a website that seems to have built an expertise in it: SEO Meter
Have you every monitored the search engine crawl rate ?
A search engine crawl rate can significantly interpret the attitude of the SE to your website.
As quoted from: SEO Meter
Search engine’s crawing rate can be quantified by crawl cycle (CC), which is the time between two consecutive crawls by search engine robots. A short CC usually means that the website is “trusted” by search engines, and this trust, in turn, is reflected on the website’s search engine ranking.
Monitoring the crawl trends can provide significant information for your websites and web directories. By analyzing the SE crawl rate you can understand the impact of any changes to your website, your off site campaigns and how the SE bots interpret it.
In a nutshell, the sites whose content are more highly valued by the SE are crawled more frequently and this preferential factor can definitely impact your SERPs.
There might be a few online SEO tool to help you with it, but SEOMeter is by far the best.
The best part is that they offer their services for free for monitoring your top level domains and your sub domains. This would be enough for most of the website/ directories owners who would like to monitor their efforts to improve their SERPs and use the Crawl Cycle as an indicator.
But if you have a budget specially assigned for SEO or if you are into providing SEO Services yourself, then you could use their internal url monitoring service for $ 20 a year. A reasonable price considering thefact they most website owners spend a couple of thousand on SEO.
So if you are interested in casual SEO or a SEO Pro, I would recommend this site to you.
And well if you are a web directory owner then you will love this neat list that I personally was overjoyed to see. (I have a fetish for any kind of web directory list ;-) )
Top-20 Most Crawled Sites in Web Directories category and another nice list of Top-20 Most Crawled Sites in Internet Marketing Category
Definitely one of the better SEO tools that I would recommend.
