You might have seen it in the ads, the album covers neatly displayed on the iPod. It’s groovy to add the original covers for your favoite albums on your photo enabled iPods which highlights on the screen as the partiular album plays. In this tuorial I will show you all how to add the album covers in your iPod.

Since your iTunes doesn’t help in any ways, we will install a small feeware uility to help us with it.

Mind you this could take some of your time. If you love your iPod and have some time to spare then this tutorial is just the thing you need.

Action Item 1: We will first have to make sure that we have Microsoft .NET framework version 1.1 installed on the comp. If you don’t have it already, then you can download it from here: Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1

Action Item 2: Once .Net framework is installed  open iTunes and choose the option to display album art by clicking on the button with a upward arrow, on the bottom left hand side of the iTune player. The upward arrow would change to a downward arrow and you will be able to see a small box in the left hand corner. (if the option is already selected then dont bother)

Action Item 3: Download iTunes Art Importer to your computer and install it.

Action Item 4: Now open iTunes (if you have closed it previously) and simultaneously open iTunes Art Importer.

Action Item 5: Select all the songs of a particular album in your iTunes(multiple selection), switch over to the iTunes Art Importer and hit the magnifying glas icon on the top right. This software will search the Amazon US website for the album covers and displayes all that it finds.

Action Item 6: You may have more then one match for the cover art, which you would need to review to select the cover art you would like to be displayed in your iPod. once you have made a selection, hit the downward arrow icon to import the image. This image will be diplayed when the previously slected tracks are played.

Repeat for all the albums at your convinience

You have a few more option to play with at iTunes Art Importer.
1. Auto import best guess: The program will add the most suitable cover art automatially.
2. Replace album art: This will replace any previous album art associated with your music files with the current selection

Also, you can refine the search by adding your own keywords.

Yup, this will kill time like crazy but then for people like me this is a great pastime ;-)
