URL: http://www.backlink.org.uk
Number of days to review a free submission: ASAP - 24 hours

Excellent post, I also had all the problems you had when trying to submit my URLs to 'free' directories. I was so frustrated with their sometimes 'cowboy' operations that I created my own directory, surely it can't be that hard to maintain a free, quality & relevant directory!

It's a noble idea and one that I have thought of attempting, however the sheer magnitude of the idea makes it rather daunting.

In addition to all the changes from free to recip/paid, sites going offline etc, you now add into the mix the timframe situation.

The problem it generates is that by highlighting which directories review more rapidly, they become more popular, and inevitably they get swamped with submissions and then move back to being a slow reviewer.

So once you've verified they are a fast reviewer, you then have to keep submitting to ensure they remain that way.

I wish you luck with this one, if there is some way I can lend assistance let me know.
