This is another DT Exclusive list focusing on free mods avaliable for PHPld. The mod adaptability is one feature that makes PHPld the most popular directory scipt in use: i.e.the ability to tweek the script to enhance the usability and functions of a directory.

I plan to list all the free PHPld mods avaliable. Please leave me a link in case you can suggest a good mod, one that you feel would enhance a directory experience.

A phpLinkDirectory modification that allows one to update the page rank of all links in ones link database. You can select many or just a few links you would like to update. You can also reset the tracking to update the links at any later date.

Supported phpLinkDirectory versions: V2.10, V2.12, V3.10, V3.20

~ Latest Featured Links :: Download :: Demo

A very simple mod which allows you to display a list of the latest featured links which have been submitted to the directory. The mod will display the number of featured links as defined under the administration setting “Links on top pages:” under Settings > Directory.

~ Homepage Newsfeed :: Download :: Demo

Allows you to display a newsfeed on the homepage of your directory to increase the content. Tested on all of the popular feeds such as Yahoo, BBC, ABC News, etc. The mod is very straight forward to install and configure, you can use any feed you wish and decide how many headlines should be displayed.

Displays a linked list of the top 10 visited categories within your directory. The template can be customized to suit your directory and positioning of the top 10 list. The mod works with both rewrite enabled URL’s and normal URL’s as defined in your configuration.

~ Random Quotes :: Download

This little addition to your site will allow you to display a random quote every time a page is requested. This is a highly effective method of introducing fresh content for the search engines, especially when operating a niche directory.

~ Site of the Day :: Download :: Demo

Allows you to display a “Site of the Day” on any of the pages you choose. The web site is randomly selected from the database; with each day loading a new site. An example of this mod in action can be seen on our homepage. This mod is very straight-forward and easy to install, just download the zip file and follow the install.txt contained within.

~ Split Category Links :: Download

Split up the category links on your details page and increase your internal linking structure. Normally if a user submits to the category “Business » Investing » Other”, the details page will display a single link back to that category. Install this mod and instead, your details page will generate a link for each sub category. One for “Business » Investing » Other”, one for “Business » Investing” and one for “Business”!

This modification allows to offer deeplinks in your directory.

~ PHPld deeplinks Mod – Additional features :: Installation

This will give you the ability to show and edit the additional fields in the admin panel. To be installed with the above deeplink mod.

With this mod, the script would validate the submitted deplinks.
