Dan at IVS has just announced the new update to the IVS free directory list.

Those of you who have used this list before would observe that the number of directories in this list has significantly reduced.

Have no fear as this is what was intended in the first place.

This update  consists of:

- 29 new general directories
- 18 new niche directories
- 45 ientry owned directories removed
- 51 weakly edited directories removed.

So I just checked my bid directory and I was amazed to see the SPAM that was submitted to the site.

In total I had close to 1500+ links that were submitted to this directory and with no bulk delete feature, it was a pain in the ass.

Part of the problem could be that the PHPlb version that I am currently using doesn not have any spam protection (captcha) and so it is an easy target for automated spam bot.

The newer version of PHPlb (1.4.2) does have a captcha but still some users are complaining that it is unable to stop the spam submissions.

Well, recently Del.ici.ous captcha was also cracked so I guess this could well mean that the pretty soon captcha could be rendered useless.

Until then if you too are facing heavy spam submission in your PHPlb directory, run this MySQL query in your database to bulk delete the spam submissions.

delete from tbl_links where link_status = 0

So, it’s time to upgrade to the latest version of PHPld.

A lof of my directories are not yet upgraded and while looking for a few free themes, I managed to find a few good ones which luckily happened to be compatible with the latest release.

This is a paid review:

We talked about the evolution of directory lists, now let us look into the lucrative space of paid blogging and blog advertising.

We have all heard or used the PayPerPost marketplace, now we have a new initiative by the same guys at IZEA.

This one is called SocialSpark and with their Alexa rank burning through the rankings, it sure is getting hotter in webspace.

The good news is that Social Spark is now open to the public and anyone can join and participate in their marketplace.

With the blogosphere becoming a hot advertising spot, one can use the SocialSpark marketplace to advertise or get sponsorship from prospective interested site representatives.

There is a little spunk at Social Spark, wherein, advertisers can offer cash sponsorship for display advertisements to bloggers. So a blogger can earn not just by writing sponsored content but also by placing display advertisement on their blogs.

But some freatures that caught my site was the function to add friends and also the dashboard space has been optimized for interactive content.

At my dashboard I can see an ample number of widgets with every possible information that I could posibilly want to know.
